FAMILY ADVENTURES IN SCIENCE
Families can learn together while conducting fun and exciting science experiments.
Electricity
November 13th, 6-7:30pm
Spark an interest in science in a casual, fun-filled evening. Work together as a family to conduct "electrifying" experiments and explore physical science concepts.
$10 per member family, $15 per non-member family, $5 per additional guest. Pre-registration is required, registration opens October 30th.
HOMESCHOOL SERIES
Science
Our extremely successful Science Series is BACK! Join us in the QuestLAB where students will conduct their own science and educational experiments and learn valuable scientific and mathematical concepts while having fun.
First and third Wednesday of each month starting Wednesday September 17th.

Homeschool Science Cirriculum
We are proud to announce two additions to our popular Homeschool Series!
Art New this year!
Students will be introduced to various artists and mediums as they become acquainted with different periods of art. Throughout the course of the year students will learn to implement corresponding art principles as they develop their own unique artist style and portfolio!

Homeschool Art Cirriculum
Drama New this year!
Join us for a fun exploration of the many aspects of theatre. Students will grow confident in their acting skills through theatre games, creative movement, ensemble building and character exploration. Students will also be introduced to scene study and monologue work.
First and third Thursday of each month starting Thursday September 18th.

Homeschool Drama Cirriculum
Cost per student:

General Admission rate of $7 applies to friends and family that play in the Museum during class time.
DISCOVERY TOTS
Designed to nurture the curious nature of a toddler, Discovery Tots will expose our youngest visitors to a variety of materials and techniques through exciting hands-on science, technology, art and school readiness activities.
Discovery Tots: First Experiences
This program provides stimulation and inspiration for the earliest visitors to the Museum. Advice and tools will be offered for adult caregivers to foster their child's social, emotional and motor development.
First Thursday of each month starting Thursday October 2nd.
Time: 9:30-10:15am
Ages: Birth to 3 years old
Cost: $5 materials fee

Discovery Tots: Ready Set Learn School Readiness Program
Critical early learning skills will be introduced in this drop off program designed to ready children for an organized classroom experience. Knowing that a child's ability to learn and develop is multifaceted, this program will address the intricate and complex developmental progress of each child.
Second and fourth Thursday of each month starting Thursday September 25th.
Time: 9:30-10:30am
Ages: 3-5 years old
Cost: $5 materials fee

Discovery Tots: Open Discovery Time
This informal program will provide opportunities for parents, caregivers and children to gain knowledge and create together. Participants will be exposed to a variety of materials and techniques in this multisensory experience. This discovery time will be open to all visitors of the Museum.
Every Friday morning starting Friday September 19th.
Time: 10am-12pm
Ages: Birth-5 years old
Cost: FREE with Museum admission or membership
Parent/caregiver & child class, NO pre-registration required

Enrollment for Homeschool Series & Discovery Tots:
Homeschool Series: Maximum is 20 students/class, minimum is 6 students/class.
Discovery Tots: Maximum is 12 students/class, minimum is 4 students/class.
Participation is limited to ages identified in class description.
Cancellation Policy for Homeschool Series & Discovery Tots:
Cancellations made up to 5 days prior to scheduled classes will be refunded. If cancellation is made within 5 days no refund will be issued.

LANGUAGE, CULTURE AND SPONGE
Hola! Ni Hao! Bonjour! Sing, dance and play in language with native-speaking teachers from Sponge. Learn language and culture in a fun-filled immersion environment.
Spanish with Sponge: September 16th
Children will learn transportation words and phrases in Spanish through "Honk, Honk, Let's Go!" Songs and games will teach children to say "honk the horn", "slow down", "stop" and "go"!
Mandarin with Sponge: October 14th
French with Sponge: November 11th
Time: 11-11:45am
Ages: Birth to 5 years old
Cost: FREE with Museum admission or membership.

QUESTCLUB
Conquer fun and exciting challenges focusing on math and science in this after-school science-based program. We will build flying machines, balance gizmos and experiment with 'chemical' reactions to name a few! Inventing and testing is the name of the game!
Second and fourth Wednesday of each month starting Wednesday, September 24th.
Time: 2:30-4pm
Ages: School-aged children, 1st-4th grade
Cost: $5/member, $8/non-member
Pre-registration is requested and walk-ups are accepted based on availability.
PARENT WORKSHOPS
KidsQuest will again be partnering with King County Library to bring parent education to the Museum. Come one Wednesday a month to strengthen your parenting knowledge!
Too Much National Growth: Childhood Obesity
Wednesday, September 24th, 6pm
Americans consume 23 pounds of pizza per person and 1.85 billion pounds of potato chips each year - and food is only part of the problem. We haven't always been pudgy people - so what about our lifestyle is different and what can we learn from past lifestyle choices to help us improve upon today's? This workshop will discuss leading healthy lifestyles and teaching our children to make healthy choices.
Roslyn Ann Duffy, counselor, author, speaker and educator will facilitate this workshop.
Playing "Doctor" - What's normal, what's not and what to do when it happens
Wednesday, October 8th, 6pm
Attendees will actively participate in this informative training and will leave with resources and skills to navigate this sometimes confusing part of children's development!
- Understand the importance of openness when discussing sexuality with children
- Talk about children's sexual development and sexual abuse in an open and casual atmosphere
- Learn how to interact with children engaging in this type of play
- Explore cultural differences in attitudes about sex and sex education for children
Workshop will be facilitated by Amy Lang, MA of Birds + Bees + Kids, LLC.
Power of the Puppet: Fostering Creativity and Communication through Puppetry
Wednesday, November 5th, 6pm
Help improve student engagement, learning retention and communication skills in this lively workshop designed to give parents, teachers and caregivers a new toolbox for engaging and empowering young learners. The Power of the Puppet will focus on:
- Practical ways to integrate puppetry into the classroom and at home
- Simple puppet crafting techniques using readily available materials
- Easy methods for bringing puppets to life
- Creative ways to use puppets as learning and communication tools both in and out of the classroom
Attendees will receive craft hand-outs, a bibliography for further reading and resources for local puppetry opportunities. This workshop will be facilitated by Rob D'Arc'.
All workshops are FREE and childcare provided for a suggested donation of $5/child. Pre-registration is required and STARS credits available.
